The first Workshop on Information Theoretic Methods in Science and Engineering (WITMSE) will be held at the Tampere University of Technology, Tampere, Finland. The workshop will cover hot topics at the intersection of statistics, information theory, machine learning, and their applications. The invited speakers will present the latest fundamental results, trends, and open issues in this promising scientific field. The technical program will include plenary lectures, three invited oral sessions, and contributed posters.
Prospective authors are invited to submit full-length, up to six page papers in portable document format (PDF) to the WITMSE Technical Committee, as described in the Paper Submission page. All papers will be handled and reviewed electronically. All accepted papers will be published by the Tampere International Center for Signal Processing in its Proceedings and Report Series.
The workshop is intended to increase the cooperation between Tampere Graduate School in Information Science and Engineering (TISE), Helsinki Graduate School in Computer Science and Engineering (HECSE), and the Research Training Group - Statistical Modelling at the Technische Universität Dortmund. The workshop will be a unique interaction opportunity for the students and supervisors from these graduate schools and at the same time it will offer to students exposure to the state of the art presented by international experts.
